 PROELLIXE TOTAL BODY VIBRATION

debbie-payne

“Who would have thought vibration could relieve significant pain, increase mobility, and increase energy? Well, it did this for me. In fact, it helped me immensely with my frozen shoulder, has reduced fatigue when working long hours, and even provided relief and energy to cope with grieving the loss of my mother. Linda and the staff at TWC are professional, and knowledgeable, provide custom services,  and care about the community of South Delta. I highly recommend TWC as a place to come to build your health capacity.”

suzanneaullinger“When I’m in different moods I have different needs for my body and the Proellixe works with this.  They really know how to use the machine at TWC so they can help me out with whatever I need when I come in each day.  The machine helped me lose weight and maintain it as well as it helps me to sleep and relax if I am over-tired or stressed a bit after I get back from a long haul on the plane.”  Susanne Aullinger

bev-4-proellixe“I’ve been using the Proellixe for a year and a half now. I find it allows me to improve in my other exercise programs. When I get a reoccurrence of old injuries (or old age aches and pains) I ask the staff for specific directions and soon I’m back to good health. They are so knowledgeable!
I have muscles all over now and the machine helps get the kinks out. I always leave feeling up, more energetic and raring to go after a session. The encouragement you receive by all the staff is so great!
-Bev Clarke, Client since 2007

sueanderson“After suffering with severe tendonitis in my shoulder for nearly two years I tried the Pro-Ellixe Total Body Vibration Machine at least four or five times a week for a month. The tendonitis has completely gone and as a bonus I felt so much better, my sleep improved and I lost some inches. During that month time I also hurt my ankle while working and it was swollen. After a week on the TBV the swelling had totally gone down.
I found the whole experience to be very relaxing and was treated with great courtesy and professionalism on each visit. I am definitely a huge fan and will be back after my extended stay in Chile.”

I have exercised my whole life – running, aerobics, biking, weights, etc. – and have always had good results, until recently.  Over the last few years, after hitting 40, I have noticed that the results have been much slower coming or none existent.  The upper arm waddle, the neck waddle and the back fat waddle seem to be resistant to disappearing despite all my best efforts.

I started doing research on vibration machines after many of my clients – who are generally desperate to lose weight but hate exercise – asked me about them.  The research results were certainly compelling.  I knew that TWC had the Proellixe machine (one of the highest ranked models based on my research) so I thought I would try it for a month – forgo all other exercise for that month – and see if it actually did work (I cannot ethically recommend something to a client that I don’t fully believe in).  Well, no one is more surprised than I am by the results.

The changes I have witnessed in my body have been dramatic. Although I have always had good lower body strength, my core and arms have never been great.  The muscle definition I can now see in my lower back, abs and arms is phenomenal.  It would have taken me months at the gym, working out many hours everyday to have achieved these results.  I often find myself flexing my arms while looking in the mirror because I am so happy to see the definition that I have previously been unable to achieve.  I can now wholeheartedly recommend the vibration machine to all my clients.

“ Shortly after Christmas I over stretched and pulled something in my right knee. This bothered me until I began one month unlimited sessions on the TBV. Within two weeks the pain in my knee was gone! The vibration has also helped my hips (no more pain when walking up stairs) and has also helped with pinched nerve in my back. I find this machine remarkable and have recommended it to two ladies in my yoga class who have bad knees. I am certain TBV will bring them immediate results.”

The Total Body Vibration Exercise is quick, easy and it works!  It only takes 10 minutes per session and keeps me fit and strong for rugby.  My leg and core strength keep my back strong and the machine works out any muscle soreness and stiffness from previous games or practices.  I’ve spent this last year travelling to Europe and Hawaii for rugby.  Thanks TWC!

Two years ago, Liz took advantage of our 3 free Proellixe trials.  She loved it but because of work was coming on and off  for 2 years and never realized how much it helped her feel better and managed her weight until she got caught up in work and stopped coming at all for a while.  liznicholls

“6 months ago I decided to make a serious commitment to myself to lower my stress in all areas of my life.  The first place I started was coming back to Linda at the TWC and using the Proellixe 5 times a week (and sometimes twice a day!) for 10 minutes.  I have a major concern about getting osteoporosis as my mother has it  severly.  I am determined to do everything I can to stay healthy and “in the game!”  I can definitely say that the Proellixe machine, combined with the help from the ladies at the front desk who assign me new exercises to get the most out of my visits and  suggest different ways to use the programs to help maximize the opportunities the machines afford, I not only feel more calm all day long but I feel soothed and peaceful afterwards.  My body, overall, feels stronger too and I know my posture has really improved since I have been coming regularly.  I try my best to start everyday with a “shake” on the machine.  I firmly believe that it has increased my energy and I sleep better at night knowing that I am doing all I can for myself and my health.  And as a bonus, I just got weighed on the Tanita Scale ( which is an important part of the Proellixe package for me) and I lost 2% body fat over the past month and a half and I’m keeping it off!”   Liz Nicholls

Heather Searle
For Heather, being in the game means being active with her children and husband.
heathersearle“It has always been my dream to ski with my whole family.  For the first time this March, I was able to accomplish my goal because my physical body had the endurance and balance it needed to make my mental and emotional bodies feel confident. I started out skiing a couple hours at a time and then finally I felt strong enough to ski the whole day and wound up keeping up with the children right from 9am to 5pm!”

Heather also shared with us a little different story about something else she did for the first time at Missionfest this spring due to her use of the Proellixe machines:

”There was a bike vendor booth at the Missionfest this year and he had some bike trainers set up for people to try.  I have never used one before. Without any assistance I got on and started to peddle right away.  The bike store owner said he has never had anyone ever find their balance right away the first try and manage to keep peddling (and not fall over) without any assistance holding the bike to get it going!”  WAY TO GET IN THE GAME HEATHER!

PILATES TESTIMONIALS

trishprevost“Participating in Pilates classes at the TWC over the past year has helped me to strengthen my own back tremendously. I was first injured 10 years ago while working as a physiotherapist in the hospital setting. I have continued to experience flare-ups from a minor disc bulge since then. The focus on core strengthening at TWC has lessened the frequency of those flare-ups and has helped me to keep strong throughout my current pregnancy. I am extremely impressed by the knowledge base and expertise of the instructors at the TWC and enjoy working with them both personally and professionally. I have continuously promoted the TWC to many of my own clients and can honestly say speaking from experience that this is one of the best ways to tackle back pain due to chronic instability.”  Trish Hewson, Physiotherapist, Sungod Physiotherapy, Ladner, BC

suzanneaullinger“Since starting the Pilates, I can really tell a difference in my yoga classes.  I have all over increased body strength and it feels so good!  Linda and Anne have helped me get more energy flowing…You Ladies get me out of bed in the morning!”  Susanne Aullinger

“In late October I was diagnosed with emphisema even though I have never smoked.  It was hard to figure out what to do for exercise because it was becoming harder to breath for a while.  Doing Pilates on the Reformer was a great way to get a work out without flaring up the breathing problems. I’m feeling good now and my breathing is great. I haven’t stopped the Pilates and I’m glad because I recently had shoulder surgery and again the instructors at TWC have taken good care of me and helped me work through my injury back to feeling great again!”    Heather Grant

“I had done one long run previously, the 2004 Vancouver Marathon.  My split (half marathon) robdeantime was 2 hours 12 minutes and that being four years ago and my being four years younger, I set what I felt to be an aggressive, but reachable goal of 2 hours for the Victoria Half in 2008.  The mix of pilates and running has been great.  I am stronger overall, have greater endurance and have a new attitude and approach to my physical and mental well being.  Thanks! ” Rob
ps: Oh, by the way my time in Victoria was 1 hour 46 minutes which placed me 19th in my age group.  Not bad!”
Rob Dean, Client since 2008

kennedy1 ”TWC has been a guiding support in my physical well being.  I enjoy the additional education regarding a holistic approach to health and have enjoyed the new products presented.  The staff are helpful and professional and Linda is a great pilates teacher who has helped me to improve my fitness level over the last six years.”

Rebecca with instructor Trina Rosell

rebeccatrina“I’m 9 1/2 years old and I dance (ballet), and play basketball, golf, volleyball, soccer and baseball.  I first came to see Trina to build up my core muscles to help me get better at dance.  It’s helped me a lot!  I was weak in my back and my spine wasn’t straight when it was supposed to be, so I had weak posture. I also wanted to look better when I dance and improve my turn out.  The Pilates has really helped me a lot! A few of my favorite things that I have done to help my strength is Rebounding to warm up, The Airplane on the cadillac (it’s hard work but it feels really good stretching my back) and I just built up my core and arm strength to the point when I can work with Trina a little on the Reformer.  I was really excited when I got to do that because I worked so hard to get there both with Trina and on my own at home and in school. I thought the Reformer would be tough but I got used to it in a few weeks and I’m proud of myself to be on the Reformer! ”   Rebecca, 9.5 years old

Here I am in a canoe on the Amazon, one of many awkward positions I was crammed into, bounced around, artclarkeor had to endure for long periods during our three week adventure to Ecuador and Peru.  Although having suffered from chronic neck and back pain for years, after having just 5 pilates sessions with Linda before going on this adventure, I was realitively pain free and really enjoyed the trip.  Since returning home, I’ve kept up my twice weekly sessions and am enjoying life and loving it!   Art Clarke

“I’m getting ripped abs and it has lifted my bottom and enormously enhanced my running”.    S. Harris Client since 2004

“Pilates has enhanced my flexibility, strength and posture.  I have had no more trips to the doctor and no more shots for my back pain.”   J. Shuman

“I have had a 6% drop in body fat.  I have increased my flexibility and strength and over all well-being”.  J. Miller

“My muscles are much stronger and less bulky.  Pilates has helped my tennis and golf games temendously….it has helped my neck problems.  I feel toned, healthy and look much better in my clothes.”  A. Dunn

scottmarenych“On an average day, I lift about 6000 plus pounds of household junk or construction waste and I was having trouble with my lower back pain from time to time. Each time I hurt my back the longer it took to heal. After going to doctors, physio and massage, which all helped ,the experts agreed…I needed to do regular stretching and strengthening of my leg and core muscles. After trying boot camps, bosu ball classes and get fit classes I was not satisfied with my results. There were too many people in the class, not enough instruction and not enough results. With having smaller classes and working specific muscle groups with positive and negative resistance, I have achieved the results that I was looking for. I find pilates very relaxing and I look forward to each class. Since starting my classes I have not had any major lower back pain. I do recommend pilates at the Tsawwassen Wellness Centre for the great staff and knowledgable instructors.”

That’s Rubbish Disposal

“I really love pilates because it has made my core so strong!
Years ago my physiotherapist and Massage Therapist suggested that I take Pilates because my neck was so bad I could hardly stand it.  I joined up with TWC and  the instructors had to modify the exercises and  postures for me for quite some time.  Well, it worked! My neck is no longer in pain, I can go full out in the classes and I find my stress is lower too.”
Pat Kloschinsky

judypierce“I started working with the Pilates Reformer machine to increase my flexibility, create strength in my body and tone my muscles. It definately has done all this and I’m not bored with the exercise!
The Pilates machines (Reformer and Cadillac) help me to get into positions that I just couldn’t do on the floor. I love how it makes my whole body feel supple – my golf instructor has been amazed at how much flexability I have and how it’s improved my game!”  Judy Pierce

img_0426I’ve said it before, and I’m still saying it – “I can’t wait for my next pilates class!”  I have come to know and love the friendly staff at TWC, and my fellow pilates-mates, and regard them as “family”.  The atmosphere there is one of genuine care and helpful support in many aspects of my health, fitness and wellbeing.  When the stuff of everyday life trips up routine, TWC continues to meet me RIGHT where I am, not only in areas of flexibility for make-up classes, but in working through any stumbling blocks that happen along the way.  Through the past 3 years at Tsawwassen Wellness Centre, I found a love of pilates like NOTHING ELSE in the journey of “mid-life move it or lose it”.  Challenged with knee/alignment issues, the no-pain-no-gain slant of weight-training, even under the direction of a personal trainer over the course of a year, only kept me in chronic knee pain; followed next by a futile attempt in a facility where the workout routine was far too cookie-cutter on circuit-training equipment, only had me right back into weeks of physio treatments for those knee/alignment issues.  I soon discovered that pilates is truly an extension to physio and worth every penny for my health.  It’s focused and deep core work has given me back my knee mobility, and BONUS! – an inner core and body strength on a whole new level, ALL WITHOUT PAIN!  The instructors’ knowledgeable training base, coupled with their encouraging support and joyful camaraderie keeps me LOVING every minute of my classes and motivated to come back for more!  GONE is the bemoaning language of “Uggg, I HAVE to go to the gym”…   THUMBS UP for TWC and pilates!  Thank you for your commitment to help people stay ON the road to doing something good for their body and working towards maintaining a vital and healthy lifestyle.

My friend, Anna, and I were chatting the other day about our pilates – she took your Monday morning class.  She loved your teaching method and the personal caring approach you brought to your classes too!

Take care, God Bless, stay well!

Mary-Jane

Dear Linda,

It is with the utmost graditude I’m writing to you. Last year I came to your studio with a doctors recommendation to work out on the reformers, he thought it would help to rehabilitate my hip and back. It was a great day for me to find you.  For eight months you and your instructors, Patricia, Anne, and Jodi worked with me through my pain and weakness with such care and encouragement that when it was time for my surgery I was a lot stonger and better able to deal with it both phyically and mentally. Now it’s five months since my hip replacement and working with you and Patricia for the last three months with programs specifically suited to my needs I have regained most of my strength, mobility, and flexibilty to the amazement of my family and friends, even my surgeon is very impressed (although he thinks it’s from his amazing skill). I am now waiting for a knee replacement…so I guess we get to go through the proccess again, but I know I’m in great hands!!!

With sincerest  thanks to you and Patricia,

In Health   Liz Jarvenpaa   ( as you say every Monday)

Hi Anne & Jodi,

img_0370So Ifinally got the chance to put the Pilates training to the test. I did a 7 hour/166 km ride on Sunday from Ladner to the North Shore, up Cypress, out to Horseshoe Bay and back and I had a very good time up Cypress. My core didn’t hold me back like it has in the past and I was definitely in tune with the breathing and maintaining form ( Thank you Jodi !). During the Cypress climb I was able to overtake everyone I had in front of me and even had one guy say ” You make it look easy !” as I passed him. The experience was awesome. So safe to say you’ve got a very satisfied customer, Ladies.

Not out of the woods yet, though. The descent of Cypress highlighted the need to keep with the program. Holding an aerodynamic profile and keeping the head up ( a la the “cat” stretch position) for the 12 minutedownhill blast was tough.

I thought I’d pass along some of the rationalerelated to “ This is how a bike rider would benefit from Pilates “. I thinkparagraph # 3 below pretty well says it all.

So here’s the technical approach to hill climbingon a bike. ( Cut from a cycling website post )

1. Your first reaction should be to shift into a smaller gear, maintain your RPM’s and try and hold on to your speed. In order to keep your heart rate down you will want to stabilize your power with a gradual increase in effort level. The natural way to hold the power steady is to stay in the saddle.

2. Fight the tendency to keep shifting gears as the climb steepens. This will reduce your speed to a crawl and put you behind your peers. A good goal is to keep your heart rate in check, but accept the fact that it will continue to rise. As your speed drops and the lactic acid builds in your legs slide back in the saddle to change the firing order of the muscles and leverage more force from your glutes and quads. Try pointing your toes to bring the lower leg muscles into the firing pattern. This will add more fire to the back side of your stroke in hip flexion. Allow your heart rate to climb slowly and focus on the LIFT in your stroke.

3. Avoid falling into the novice trap of sitting up high with straight arms, usually with a bent back and a pedal stroke led by the heels pointing down. This disconnects the powerful stabilizing core muscles and the usually throws off the rhythm of your stroke. Instead, strive for a flat back with bent elbows, which lowers your center of gravity. By pulling from the contracted, supporting muscles of the core we can delay the accumulation of lactic acid in the primary muscles. What this looks like to the thongs of spectators lining the roads of the big tours is a rider with a neutral expression, bent elbows and gentle rocking from side to side while building forward momentum.

4. Maintain your focus. Novice riders typically get distracted when they can’t see to top of the grade. They forget to breathe or breathe shallowly which causes form and focus to deteriorate as leverage and muscular force head south. Pay attention to your RPMs. Should a climb continue to challenge you, as they always seem to do, watch as RPM drops off. If more than 10 percent of your target range, of say 65 to 70 RPM’s is lost, it may be necessary to either shift again, increase power, or maybe leave the saddle which is always your last resort since it will increase your metabolic burn rate.

DANCE FOR ADULTS AND OLDER TEENS
suzanneaullinger“I wanted to add more cardio to my weekly routine so one of my friends who does Pilates with me at TWC tricked me into taking dance with Trina (I thought we were going to a cardio pilates class!).  I have two left feet and would have said no to a dance class because I don’t think I can dance.  Trina was amazing!  Her class was so fun that I forgot that I couldn’t dance. If she can get me moving in time to the music, she can get anyone moving!”   Susanne Aullinger

WEIGHT LOSS AND WELLNESS

“We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your sessions in the Weight Loss and Wellness program. We both took away ideas and processes that we will be able to use again and again. Thanks so much for all of the time and effort you put into making this program a success!”
Meredith Williamson, 2008

“I should have taken picutures before I started to see the difference. Not only losing six pounds and losing my rolls around my waist (and that was only cleansing twice while still grazing on the same days) my energy level went through the roof. I could actually do a workout class at 5 pm on the Friday and go for it. My face looks refreshed and I think younger as the tone really improved. It has been over a month now, but I continue using the shakes for breakfast (adding a banana) as I really enjoy them. It has really become a life style change for me as I feel so good and am continuing with the diet restrictions and never feel deprived at any time. The chocolates raffers are my treat. I usually have two a day with tea. I still haven’t gone back to my morning coffee and the shake seems to be enough. The headache for four days at the beginning of the cleanse was enough evidence that my body really shouldn’t be having any coffee at all. I have never done a cleanse before and was very skeptical about them. Even though Isagenix is labeled a cleanse, I feel it is more a life style change to become a more healthy eater and your benefits are so apparent that it becomes an easy choice to develop these skills to keep on it. Let me know if you require anything else from me. I know I have not felt better in years.” Thanks Marsha, 2009

Linda, I just wanted to keep you up to date on the measurements taken on Monday Nov. 19th 2007:

Total inches Lost to date : 19.5″
Total Weight Lost: 13.6lbs
Total BMI Change: 0% still at 35.7%
Bone density down .2 from 8.2 to 8.0

suzanneaullinger“I love coming to TWC because everyone there knows what they are doing!  They are reasonable with my flexible work schedule (I’m an airline Stewardess).  They seem to always be able to accomodate my shift work.  There’s parking in the back, Classes going on all day and in the evenings.  There’s so much to try here (classes) so I can do new things all the time… I love how they make everything I want to do here “doable”!   Susanne Aullinger
